Notes:
Silverhill, Alabama was our next stop along the way to Little Rock. Though our time in Silverhill was short, we spent a lovely evening with family and made time for some BBQ just outside of town. It turns out Moe's is a chain, and a big one at that (There's even one in California! Who Knew?!), but it wasn't short on character, and the BBQ was pretty good to boot.
Patrick always goes for pulled pork; it's hands down his favorite. The brisket made an appearance for good measure, but it was the pulled pork he preferred. Baked beans passed the test (he ate them all, that's usually a good indication) and the mac & cheese was well above average (I might have eaten
I had brisket "'Bama style", which means it's served with pickles, slaw, and Alabama white sauce on the side. The brisket was good, as were the accompaniments, though personally, I prefer my white sauce a little less mayonnaise-y and a little more horseradish-y. The cheesy broccoli casserole was a little on the mushy side, but still satisfying. And the potato salad was tasty, with just the right balance of everything: mayonnaise, mustard, pickles, love.
Last but not least, the jalapeno cornbread was a nice gimme - it comes with all BBQ plates - toasted and moist; pass the butter, please.
I don't know that we'll be seeking out Moe's in locations across the country, but we'd certainly return if the opportunity arose.
